In Valparaiso Chile, a black mutt saw two men struggling on the ground and rushed to help. But this wasn’t some street brawl. Doggie broke up a match in an arena during a jiu-jitsu competition.
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (the version practiced in Chile) is a predominantly ground-based martial art, using the principles of leverage, angles, pressure, and timing, as well as knowledge of the human anatomy, in order to achieve a non-violent submission of one’s opponent.
The four-pawed rescuer must have thought the sportsmen had been hurt. Francisca Silueta, a bystander, captured the moment on video.“Suddenly, all the eyes were staring at this dog, and all the competitors had to stop. Everybody started clapping. It was like the dog had won first place.”
